It’s so easy and so difficult to make a list of the top ten, which explains why it’s my first time to do it - the most notorious exercise for the cinephiles from all over the world. It makes me feel humble and unjust, partly because the result could only be personal and unjustified. So I decide to make my decisions based on these principles - also to avoid a certain publicity of a certain “printed” legend ( history ) of cinema : only choose the titles of the films or the names of the directors who come into my head spontaneously without researching; it should be movies that I watched again and again but would be still willing to watch more times, to keep an intimate even mysterious relationship with them. Also, again and again, try to figure out exactly why they are great and to understand why I like them, analyse but also auto-analyse, learn about yourself by learning the cinema, and ( maybe ) vice-versa, because I think no film has changed my life but meantime I constate that it has been changed by the cinema. The exercise is eventually profitable, so maybe a rendez-vous in 2032, with pleasure !
