A necessarily deranged snapshot of films that have imprinted themselves on mind and memory, sparked personal moments of revelation, or represent tunnel-vision commitment to point of view, political agenda, creative vision. Or all of the above.
I regret there wasn't space for more documentary and short-form work, and among many absences that of Seven Samurai - somehow edged off the list. Though she transcends such mortal concerns, the omission of Elizabeth Taylor is criminal; my number 11 wildcard would of course be Boom!
