I have found it almost impossible to narrow my list down to just ten films and looking at it again I can’t believe that I haven’t included a single film by two of my favourite directors, Alfred Hitchcock and David Lean. I could comment on each film individually but apart from my own personal relationship with each one I don’t think I could add anything that hasn’t already been said before. However I can say that each one of these films has left a profound and lasting impression on me at various times in my life. They are all wonderful examples of this beautiful and essential art form. Following This Is Spinal Tap, eleven would have been Two For The Road made in 1967 by Stanley Donen.
