Beginning
A new coordinate system for cinema and a fresh confession. Pure cinematic pleasure.
Kynodontas
A special film language, a unique exchange of concepts. A terrible push into totalitarianism from which one wants to gnaw one’s way out to freedom.
Léolo
An underrated masterpiece. A crazy, strange, unique journey through the tunnels of the main character's fantasy. To dream is to exist, the new gospel from Léolo.
After Yang
Science fiction with ethical issues at the forefront. A current and thoughtful story of the interweaving of the past and present, the intersection of traditions and the latest technologies.
A film to which you want to return. A film that in 20-30 years will be added to the school curriculum to instill respect for artificial intelligence.
Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier
Sincere, desperate and unbreakable. A sip of freedom is more important than anything else.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Painting on the screen in its purest form. A tender and delicate love story. The right to love from birth to death ignores obstacles and breaks through time.
First Cow
The colonial past on the screen is like a journey to see who the ancestors were. An important reminder of how a state in which the supremacy of freedom is cultivated began, and an important assessment of the coordinate systems that currently form society.
Diqiu zuihou de yewan
An unforgettable cinephile adventure awaits you. A sticky, viscous and suffocating atmosphere of visual aesthetics. A masterpiece in which you want to be in the middle. A sip of visual euphoria.
TAXIDERMIA
If you want to know how to regurgitate the socialist-communist past, you should see this uncompromising, brilliant film. A strange and morbid, narcissistic and radical ode to the origins of selfcentredness. An act of self-destruction of imperial hedonism. Unforgettable.
Hunger
A person who fights to the end for freedom – freedom above all else – is a story that always incredibly close for Ukrainians. An unforgettable masterpiece about the incredible power of the human spirit. An unbreakable and strong picture.
Further remarks
Of course, first of all, you could name Bergman, Coppola, Tarr, Olmi, Kubrick and many other extremely talented directors. Their films should definitely be at the top of the list here. I have selected directors who embody a new cinema, a new film language, a unique vision and unforgettable stories of the new era.
Thank you. Sincerely, Dmytro.
