2001: A Space Odyssey
Always interesting to see. Seeing it on film or 4K always adds to the experience.
Sunset Blvd.
The best mix of homage, interesting structure, humour and smart directing.
UMBERTO D.
One of the most emotional stories ever told.
Some Like It Hot
One of the funniest and most memorable films ever.
Solaris
Always interesting to see the zero-gravity scene, and a really smart analysis of man being trapped in his own mind.
The Apartment
One of the funniest, most bitter-sweet stories that got Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond (Romanian-born) an Oscar for the screenplay (and, of course, the other four Oscars it got).
Rashomon
One of the best and freshest film structures ever and also a smart analysis of what truth really looks like.
The Third Man
One of the best mixes of mystery, good acting, good music and top-level directing.
The Godfather
A true classic that combines memorable quotes and performances with really good music.
Interstellar
Got goosebumps seeing it on IMAX. One of the truly great modern films.
Further remarks
Would really like to add at least 50 more films to this list (at least 10 of them being Romanian films), but I know it's not possible.
I'm really honoured to be asked to participate to this poll. Thank you.
