I'm not exactly a cinephile – I often find myself among directors citing scenes or shots from movies that I'm ashamed not to have heard of, let alone seen. The greatest films of all time!? Man, I don't know if these are them; these are just the ones that have had the greatest impact on me, the ones that I remember or think about most. How is it possible that Dog Day Afternoon never shows up on these lists?? I would add to these: Jean de Florette, A Prophet, The Sting, Beau Travail, The Thin Blue Line, Taxi Driver, Grisbi, anything by Bresson – oh bollocks, now I want to redo my list...
