Oscars 2024: the nominations in full

Christopher Nolan’s atomic age epic Oppenheimer leads the scoreboard after the announcement of the nominations for this year’s Academy Awards. It boasts 13 nominations – equalling its score of BAFTA nods – including for best picture, best director, best adapted screenplay and best actor for Cillian Murphy in the title role of J. Robert Oppenheimer.

In second place comes Yorgos Lanthimos’s fantasy Poor Things, which competes in 11 categories including best picture, best director for Lanthimos and best actress for Emma Stone. Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon follows with 10 nominations, with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie in the running for eight – though Gerwig will not compete for best director and Margot Robbie has also missed out on a best actress nod.

Nominated films which first screened to UK audiences at the BFI London Film Festival include The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Poor Things, The Zone of Interest, Bobi Wine: The People’s President, The Boy and the Heron, May December, Nyad, Perfect Days, Robot Dreams, The Eternal Memory and Four Daughters.

The winners will be announced on 10 March.
