BAFTAs 2025: the nominations in full

And the nominations are...

Conclave (2024)

Conclave, Edward Berger’s papal thriller starring Ralph Fiennes as the cardinal overseeing the selection of a new pope, has grabbed 12 nominations in the run-up to this year’s BAFTA awards. Its haul includes nods for best film, outstanding British film, best director, for Fiennes as best actor and Isabella Rossellini for best supporting actress.

Following with 11 nominations is Emilia Perez, Jacques Audiard’s Spanish-language musical thriller about a trans cartel boss, which will compete for best film as well as best film not in the English language. Audiard is nominated as director, with Karla Sofía Gascón up for best actress and Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña both up for best supporting actress.

Brady Corbet’s architect saga The Brutalist took nine nominations, with seven each for Anora, Dune: Part Two and Wicked, and six each for the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and the Irish-language hip-hop comedy Kneecap.

Kneecap (2024)

Backed by the BFI Filmmaking Fund, Kneecap’s tally includes outstanding British film, outstanding debut for director Rich Peppiatt, best original screenplay and best film not in the English language.

Another BFI backed film, Andrea Arnold’s Bird, is also nominated for outstanding British film, while BFI-backed films Sister Midnight, Santosh and Hoard are all also nominated in the outstanding debut category. The BFI-backed film Kensuke’s Kingdom is nominated for best children’s and family film. In addition, Nabhaan Rizwan, star of BFI-backed film industry drama In Camera, is nominated as a Rising Star.

Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light, which is distributed by BFI Distribution and topped the Sight and Sound Best Film of the Year poll in 2024, also competes for best film not in the English language.

The winners will be announced on 16 February.
