The BFI in collaboration with New Nordic Films is inviting applications from UK film makers to enter their projects and participate in a delegation to Haugesund, Norway.

The BFI in collaboration with New Nordic Films is inviting applications from UK film makers to enter their projects and participate in a delegation to Haugesund, Norway in August 2023.

We are looking for UK producer/director teams with projects relevant to the Nordic market.

New Nordic Films is an international co-production and finance market taking place within the framework of the well-established Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, Norway. New Nordic Films attracts international industry from all over Europe and beyond, with over 30 countries participating.



The 2023 edition will be held between 22-25 August 2023, with a special focus on the UK and Canada. 3-5 British projects from producer/director teams will be selected to present their projects at the Nordic Co-Production Market, seeking co-producers and financing in the Nordic countries.



Selected delegates will be invited to participate in structured networking sessions, presentations, panels and meetings.

Eligibility

Production companies with film projects connected to the Nordic countries are eligible to apply if the story is set in the Nordic countries or if the producer is specifically seeking a Nordic co-producer.



The projects in development, looking for co-producers and co-financing, will be pitched to co-producers, film funds, international sales agents and distributors. The presentations will be followed by tailor-made one-on-one meetings.

Project criteria

  • Project in development
  • Full-length feature film
  • Suitable for international circulation
  • Completed screenplay in English (preferably)
  • Production budget: moderate
  • 30% of the budget already covered (preferably)
  • Company must have completed at least one international co-production



Project submission

  • Fully completed submission form
  • Treatment in English

We are particularly keen to support producers and directors from across the UK and from under-represented backgrounds.



The BFI in partnership with New Nordic Films will cover the following:

An economy return flight from the UK to Norway, (upgrades will be at own cost), transfers, 3 nights’ accommodation and accreditation.
