A young boy, shipwrecked on a remote island, discovers he’s not alone when he encounters an old Japanese soldier who retreated there after World War II. As dangerous invaders appear on the horizon, it becomes clear they must join forces to save their fragile island paradise.  

This gripping hand-drawn animated tale with its message of working together to protect nature, has never felt more relevant.

Written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce from Michael Morpurgo’s beloved 1999 novel, Kensuke’s Kingdom features an impeccable voice cast including Sally Hawkins, Cillian Murphy and Ken Watanabe.

This school’s screening of Kensuke’s Kingdom is ideal for those studying the novel or similar texts, sustainability and protecting the environment, WW2 or the PSHE themes of friendship and resilience. Pupils will also have the opportunity, following the film, to ask questions directly to members of the team behind this gripping animation.

You should book by 4pm at least two working days before the event. However, we recommend booking earlier to avoid disappointment.

Prices

The study day costs £6.00 per student.

Accompanying teachers and adults cost £6.00 each, unless there are five students (or over), then it costs £1 per five students.

Teachers attending without students cost £40.

If your school has over 20% of students getting free school meals, you should ask about a discount when you book.
