The festival (6 to 17 October 2021) presents the best cinema to audiences of more than 200,000 people every October. Featuring a vibrant range of films, series and immersive work from around the world, representing a thrilling variety of languages, genres and filmmaking styles. Over 12 days we attract some of the world’s most exciting international film, television and XR artists – creating a platform for audiences keen to explore screen-based storytelling in all its forms.
Established in 2020, LFF Expanded is featuring artists and creative teams working in immersive media like virtual, augmented or mixed reality. Using cinema as a jumping-off point, we aim to literally expand our audience’s horizons on how to experience interactive storytelling and all kinds of immersive art forms. Together with our partner National Theatre we are looking for innovative creators and teams from all over the globe working at the intersection of visual art, immersive storytelling and creative technology. We are keen to showcase vibrant and daring new work which will be exhibited both physically and virtually to our audience across the globe.

If you have a project that you would like to submit for the festival, then we look forward to considering your project.
