In just a few years, Payal Kapadia has emerged as a distinctive voice in contemporary cinema, blending documentary and fiction to create personal and evocative works. Her first feature A Night of Knowing Nothing, a poetic and immersive exploration of the 2015 student strikes, won the prestigious Oeil d’or award for Best Documentary at Cannes in 2021.
Her latest film All We Imagine As Light was awarded the Grand Prix at Cannes earlier this year, cementing Kapadia’s reputation as one of the most exciting new voices in contemporary cinema. A triumph with critics and audiences alike, it follows three nurses living and working in Mumbai, their overlapping narratives of love and loss and finding hope and connection in the light when one is surrounded by darkness.
While in London marking the UK release of the film, Kapadia signed four of her new T-shirts that we’re delighted to be giving away to you.
