Richly illustrated with unique material from the BFI National Archive, Scott Anthony’s book The Story of British Propaganda Film shows how central propaganda is to the development of British film, and how it has filtered our understanding of modern British history, from narratives of decolonisation to the celebration of pop culture and the meanings of the postwar consensus.
The book is the third title in the BFI’s growing British Screen Stories series (published by Bloomsbury) and follows The Story of Victorian Film by Bryony Dixon and The Story of British Animation by Jez Stewart.
For your chance to win copies of all three books, simply email filmcompetitions@bfi.org.uk with BRITISH SCREEN STORIES in the subject line, by Friday 15 November 2024.
