Curatorial Archivist
Caitlin Lynch is a curatorial archivist at BFI National Archive. She works with the Collections Development team to care for and enhance our knowledge of new and existing collections. Caitlin is currently focussed on parts of our legacy moving image collections, investigating how to make them more discoverable for future conservation projects, cultural programmes and outreach initiatives.
Before moving to the UK, Caitlin worked in collections development at Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision (the audiovisual archive of New Zealand). At Ngā Taonga, Caitlin was involved in Te Ao Māori archival initiatives including Māori language cataloguing, marae-based video digitisation training, and documenting the rights of indigenous knowledge guardians in acquisition agreements. Most recently, Caitlin has worked at the V&A museum on a storehouse decant and install.
Caitlin has a MA in Film Studies from Victoria University of Wellington, where she also taught undergraduate Film Studies. Caitlin’s research interests include South-Pacific cinema and archival collage filmmaking.
