Audio Conservation Specialist
Mike is the BFI’s Audio Conservation Specialist. He joined the BFI in 2012 after 26 years’ broadcast video, audio and telecine experience with BBC Television and commercial post-production facilities. Mike is responsible for digitising, restoring, remastering and preserving optical and magnetic film and television soundtracks for access, preservation and screening events across the BFI.
Mike says: “Using technology unique in the UK we can extract greater sonic detail and fidelity from optical film soundtracks than has been possible before, directly from the negative. It’s a tremendously exciting time for archive film sound.”
