BAFTA mentoring

BFI Film Academy in partnership with BAFTA offers mentoring for you to learn from award-winners and nominees, helping you to take that all important next step in your career.
Previous BAFTA Mentors of the Film Academy programme include producer Chris Chibnall (Doctor Who, Broadchurch), production designer Gemma Jackson (Game of Thrones) and Head of Recording Jemma Riley-Tolch (Dumbo, Bohemian Rhapsody).
Eligibility criteria
You will need to:
- be at least 18 years old by the application deadline of 27 February 2023
- have previously taken part in a BFI Film Academy course since September 2019
- have not previously been matched with a mentor by BAFTA
- demonstrate a passion for the area you are applying for

The six-month programme matches you with a mentor to help support your professional development in the film industry.
Mentors available this year include editors, directors of photography, production designers and costume designers.

The scheme aims to support positive change within our industry to encourage equal opportunity for all, whether that be race, gender, LGBTQIA+, disability or socio-economic circumstances. We really encourage underrepresented groups and those who live outside London to apply.
Please note that to be eligible to apply you’ll need to be a Film Academy course alumni or have had a film featured in our Future Film Festival.
