BFI Film Academy

Are you 16-19? Passionate about film? Want a career in the film industry?

Open to young people from anywhere in the UK and from any background, the BFI Film Academy offers a real chance for talented 16-19-year-olds to be part of our future film industry.

Highlights from BFI Film Academy courses, September 2013 – March 2014

As a student of the Film Academy, you will gain invaluable experience working alongside industry professionals who are respected practitioners in their field. You will be offered hands-on filmmaking experience which will help you to develop practical knowledge and skills. You’ll be able to explore your own creativity and passions in a supportive and dynamic environment.

What’s more, you could also apply for one of our two intensive residential programmes. Courses last between one and two weeks and are designed to develop more specialist filmmaking skills. You will work closely with leading industry professionals who will give you a unique insight into the filmmaking business and guide you along the way.

Applications for courses are currently closed. Our next Film Academy courses will run from September 2014 to Easter 2015. Full details of the locations and dates will be on our website in July. If you would like to be emailed with news of the courses when we have details in the early summer, email filmacademy@bfi.org.uk with ‘News on courses in 2014’ in the subject line and we’ll let you know as soon as the information is available.
