This competition has now closed.

Throughout the year the BFI allocates National Lottery funding to support film culture across the UK, backing bold and original storytellers, giving audiences across the UK the chance to see the world’s best films and nurturing the very best in UK filmmaking talent.

To say thank you to National Lottery players, we are offering a rare chance to explore the BFI National Archive.

Fourteen lucky film fans (plus a guest) will have the opportunity to visit our archive in Berkhamsted, which holds a magnificent collection of film and television, from the birth of cinema to today. Dating from the earliest days of film to the live capture of current television content, the BFI National Archive contains nearly a million titles – it is one of the largest media collections in the world.

Guests will be welcomed to the archive by members of our knowledgeable team who will then offer an insightful tour of the collection. Guests will then be treated to a light lunch and given the chance to talk about their film findings with the group.

The tour will take place on Thursday 14 March 2024.
  • The tour will start promptly at 10.15am
  • A light lunch will be provided at 12:30 at the end of the tour
  • The event is expected to end at 1:30pm
