Assistant curator, acquisitions
Becky is an assistant curator, acquisitions at the BFI National Archive and leads on managing the acquisition of digital moving image. She joined the BFI in 2002 as the project coordinator for the Mitchell and Kenyon collection, overseeing technical work and developing curation, academic engagement and exhibition. She is highly experienced in heritage collections management and archival best practice, and a key part of the Securing the National Collection project team, re-housing the nitrate collections into our sub-zero master store.
Becky was a member of the core selection team for the BFI’s InView project and BFI Player, facilitating the complex process of making Mitchell & Kenyon’s long-lost films available online for the first time. Her essay on the documentary filmmaker Eric Marquis was published in Shadows of Progress: Documentary Film in Post-War Britain (Palgrave/BFI, 2010). Becky is an AHRC-funded graduate of the University of East Anglia’s Film Archiving MA, where she undertook a placement at the Library of Congress’ Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division.
