BFI Southbank

Can I hire a space at BFI Southbank for an event? What spaces are available?

Yes, we have a number of spaces available for hire. The best space for you will depend on how many guests you’re inviting. You can find out more about available spaces and capacities from our venue hire section.

Can I hire a cinema at BFI Southbank for my screening?

BFI Southbank auditoriums are available for private hire. Please note, we cannot hire out spaces to clients for public screenings. All private auditorium hire at BFI Southbank must be for private audiences.

What do you charge for venue hire?

Venue hire charges differ depending on which spaces you need and how long you need them for. For standard rates, please use our contact form to get in touch.

How long in advance of the hire date do I need to submit a request to BFI Southbank?

You need to request an evening hire five months in advance. For daytime hires, we recommend at least one month.

BFI IMAX

Can I hire a space at BFI IMAX for an event? What spaces are available?

Yes, we have a number of spaces available for hire. You can find out more about available spaces and capacities from our venue hire section.

Can I hire the BFI IMAX auditorium for a screening or event?

What do you charge for venue hire?

Venue hire charges differ depending on which spaces you need and how long you need them for.

What is included in the hire price?

Whole venue hire includes:

  • All event staff (excluding catering)
  • Cloakroom facilities
  • Use of light boxes and monitors
  • Power
  • PA system
  • CD player on ground floor
  • DVD on first floor
  • Viewing of any films in stock

First floor foyer hire includes:

  • Use of the Film Café
  • All event staff (excluding catering)
  • Cloakroom facilities
  • Use of light boxes and monitors
  • DVD
  • Power supplied
  • PA system

Auditorium hire includes:

  • All event staff (excluding catering)
  • Cloakroom facilities
  • Power
  • PA system
  • Viewing of any films in stock

Can our presentation be projected through the IMAX 3D projector?

No. Only 15:70 (IMAX) film can be projected through the IMAX projector. For all other film, we hire PowerPoint or video projectors.

How big is the screen?

Our screen is 26 metres wide and 20 metres high – the largest in the UK.

Do you have disabled access and facilities?

Our cinema is accessible to everyone. We have a full range of facilities, including lifts, an induction loop, wheelchair spaces, fully accessible toilets and facilities for recharging power chairs. We also welcome guide dogs.

Do you have satellite, cable or ISDN connections?

We’re a BT Openzone Hotspot and offer broadband (up to 8mb) for £250 a day. We also have a satellite dish.

When are your spaces available for hire?

We are available for daytime or evening hire. We prefer not to hire out spaces over weekends, half terms or bank holidays.

Do you charge for set-up and get-out time?

Yes. We would normally show films from 10.30am to 10.00pm, so you will need to hire the space for exactly the amount of time you need, including set up and get out.

Do you have on-site parking?

There is no on-site parking, but there is side-door access for delivery vehicles. There are car parks on Belvedere Road, Coin Street and at Waterloo Station.
