Simon McCallum

Since joining the BFI in 2005, Simon has worked closely on the launch and programming of Mediatheques around the UK. He has overseen a series of national touring programmes including The Big Smoke: Films from a Lost London and Brit Chic: Fashion on Film, and manages the BFI Films channel on YouTube.

Simon is a graduate of the University of East Anglia’s Film Archiving MA, during which he was the first archive intern at Francis Ford Coppola’s production company American Zoetrope in San Francisco, and wrote a history of the film studio at Welwyn Garden City. More recently he worked on the 20-part BBC2 series Reel History of Britain (2011), and contributed to the BFI Compendiums 39 Steps to the Genius of Hitchcock (BFI, 2012) and Gothic (BFI, forthcoming). He is a former programme consultant for the UK Jewish Film Festival and is a programme contributor to the BFI London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival.
