The greatest films of all time essays
During 2011-12, in the build-up to the 2012 edition of our decennial Greatest Films of All Time poll, we published this series of ten essays in which critics proposed particular films for consideration in the canon.
Also indexed is one web-exclusive essay, director-critic Thom Andersen’s consideration of Ozu Yasujirô (whose Tokyo Story topped our Director’s poll) as the greatest filmmaker of all time.
