Education activities for children and families

We offer exciting film activities for children and families at BFI Southbank.

These range from preview screenings and free creative workshops at our Film Fundays to activity days and film clubs held after school.

We run a filmmaking and screening programme for young people during the school holidays.

We also provide bespoke filmmaking opportunities for other cultural or education organisations which can take place at BFI Southbank or via outreach provision.

Please contact our Family Learning Programmer for more details about our activities for children and families.

Film Fundays

Look out for our special Sunday screenings which are accompanied by fun and messy workshops! These include a competition with prizes and film making activities - from animation film making to 3D or green screen fun. They are free for all ticket-holders.

After-school film club

The after-school club runs during term times every Tuesday evening. Children can watch and create films in sessions which cover everything from animation to creating silent movies. They are fun, friendly and creative, and suitable for children aged 8–12 years (children do not need to be accompanied by an adult). Payment is at the start of each term.

We’re pleased and grateful that the Co-operative Membership Community Fund is supporting the after-school film club.

Film activities during the school holidays

There are regular workshops and screenings during the school holidays. We run workshops for very young children aged 3 and above (accompanied by an adult), and for older children aged 8-14.
