BFI Film Academy residential programme – craft skills

Produce a short film, working with other students and leading industry professionals.

Applications for the BFI Film Academy residential programme – craft skills will reopen later in 2014.

The BFI Film Academy residential programme delivered by the NFTS is a transformational experience for 66 of the most talented young filmmakers in the UK. Those who are lucky enough to be chosen will have the opportunity to work with other gifted students of their own age, with recent NFTS graduates and with leading industry professionals.

The programme will run over a two week period in 2015.

Through the production of a short film, you will learn everything from storytelling, visual language, film history and project funding to exhibition, marketing and distribution.

During the production of your short films, groups will focus on the following craft specialisms:

  • Screenwriting
  • Production design
  • Directing
  • Editing
  • Cinematography
  • Sound
  • Production

However, this course is only the beginning. You will continue to be supported in taking those very important next steps into the industry, through a programme of alumni activities that directly lead onto further study or work.

Course cost: £99

Please note, if you are unable to pay the full course fee, don’t let this discourage you from applying. Contact the course provider as costs may be waived.
