Cultural impact seminars: beyond the box office

The Stories We Tell Ourselves study was presented in each of the nations.

The presentations were a platform to demonstrate that film is central to people’s everyday lives and plays an important role in our national culture.

Other themes to emerge during these discussions were:

  • Increasing access to and encouraging debate on film heritage is central to a vibrant film culture.
  • The digital age is providing audiences with new ways to access and interact with film.

Professor Ian Christie (Birkbeck) and Bertrand Moullier (NARVAL) led each of the seminars, alongside local commentators.

You can read summaries of all the discussion events that took place between November 2009 and June 2011.
