BFI Southbank hire terms

Details of cinema tickets, cancellation policy, catering and access.

Preferred hire times

Our normal hire times are 9am-5pm, Monday – Friday. We charge extra for pre-9am starts and overnight set-ups.

Evening hire

We need at least 5 months’ notice for evening hire.

Whole venue hire

We need at least 5 months’ notice if you want to hire the whole venue, but it does mean you can have exclusive access to the venue and the Main Foyer space, which can accommodate up to 500 for a standing reception.

Tickets

We don’t allow you to sell or advertise tickets to the general public for any private hire events at BFI Southbank.

Terms of hire

Once you have signed the booking agreement you will need to pay the full hire fee (and any other fees we have agreed) within 14 days of our invoice.

We may charge monthly interest of 2% on overdue invoices, starting from the date of the event.

Cancellation policy

If you cancel your booking you will need to pay:

  • 50% of the hire fee up to 45 days before the date of the event
  • 75% if within 30 – 44 days before the event
  • 100% if less than 30 days before the event.

Catering

In our venues you can only consume food and beverages from one of our catering providers unless we’ve agreed it before the event.

Disabled access

You should find everything you need here, and we’re pleased to say we’re accessible to everyone – we offer lifts, an induction loop, wheelchair spaces, fully accessible toilets and facilities for recharging power chairs. We welcome guide dogs too.

Car parking

There are car parks very close by, under The National Theatre (off Upper Ground), under The Hayward Gallery and in front of the Shell Centre. BFI Southbank is within the congestion charge zone.
